Exploring the sandstone mesas and slot canyons of south-east Utah felt like this entire landscape was solid rock with no soil and vegetation. I had spent a week photographing the solid landscape. During sunrise and sunset, warm sunlight accentuated the orange-red hues of this dry land.

Reflections from Above

Still water reflects light rays from above. Like mirrors placed on the ground, the little brook became a patchwork of brilliant colors as it reflected the deep reds from sandstone cliffs and greens from the tall trees growing from the canyon bottoms.
